Real Estate Accountant – Los Angeles County

Premier Financial Search
Aclose-knit environment with A Hands-On, Entrepreneurial Approach
Real Estate Accountant
Location: Brentwood, Los Angeles, CA
Schedule: Full-time, 4 days in office
Salary: $95,000-$105,000
About the Company:
This real estate development and property management firm has been around since the mid-90s and is known for designing and building beautiful, high-quality projects. In addition to development, the team actively owns and manages a number of mixed-use and multifamily properties. It’s a small, close-knit environment with a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach and a “get things done” mindset.
About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Accountant to step into a critical role supporting ownership with day-to-day financial operations across several entities. This is an on-site position (minimum four days a week) in a quiet, professional office. This role functions independently but collaboratively—with access to long-tenured team members and ownership for guidance. The outgoing accountant is supportive and will help transition responsibilities to set you up for success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the accounting function for multiple active and passive entities, including real estate development, construction, and property management
- Handle full-cycle accounting: A/R, A/P, bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
- Prepare budgets, financial reports, and ad-hoc financial analyses for ownership
- Manage CAM reconciliations, investor distributions, and intercompany transfers
- Work closely with the owners on construction draws and project accounting
- Maintain an organized system for checks, vendor payments, and subcontractor activity (yes, we still cut physical checks!)
- Liaise with the external CPA and assist during tax season and audits
Who You Are:
- A self-starter who can work independently but also knows when to check in and collaborate
- Comfortable juggling multiple entities and keeping track of moving pieces
- Not just a bookkeeper—you understand how the numbers tie into the business
- Ready to roll up your sleeves and handle both simple tasks and high-level responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in real estate, construction, or property management
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations
- Proficiency with Yardi, QuickBooks, Excel, and Microsoft Word
- Experience with CAM reconciliations and investor distributions
- Bonus: CPA or audit experience
- Strong attention to detail, accountability, and time management
- Comfortable working in-office four days per week (non-negotiable)
