Tax Senior
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for U.S. and Canada tax compliance, including timely and accurately filing of income tax returns. We prepare some partnership, corporate, tax-exempt, fiduciary, and individual returns. Complex returns are prepared by outside accountants.
- Coordinate gathering information from various accounting groups to prepare tax returns and projections.
- Research various tax issues, including analysis of new tax laws, proposed legislation and multi-state apportionment rules.
- Compute and file estimated federal, multi-state and Canadian income taxes and extensions.
- Coordinate gathering of information and respond to government audits and inquiries such as notice of assessments and tax changes.
- Monitor MIS department to ensure tax processing software is operational.
- Assist in tax planning.
- Assist in the preparation of tax provisions.
- Compute and remit nonresident withholding tax under U.S. state tax code and foreign withholding tax under Canada tax code.
- Analyze, reconcile and monitor income tax accounts to ensure accounts are properly stated on the general ledger.
- Review tax invoices from service providers and prepare check requests.
- Responsible for U.S. and Canadian tax identification numbers.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Solid PC skills with proficiency in Excel and tax software programs (GoSystems, Prosystems, or ATX).
- Detail oriented, well organized, self motivated with ability to multi-task.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal.
- Ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
Location - Malibu, CA
Hours - Full-time position (8:30 to 5:30 Mon. through Fri.) plus overtime typically from August 15 to October 15
Salary - 60,000 to 80,000 + Overtime
