Sourcing Manager - Torrance

The Sourcing Manager will strive to continuously improve the value, quality and service received by the Company within the assigned spend areas through effective sourcing, supplier relationship management, risk management and internal improvement/demand management practices.  Is responsible for identifying contract manufacturing sites, sending RFQ's to various contract manufactures, evaluating RFQ's from various contract manufactures, and providing a recommendation of a supplier to the Global Strategic Sourcing team.  The Manager, Sourcing will provide internal and external analysis, provide recommendation of vendor selection, and strategize on implementation planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports New Product Launches/Tech Transfer/Product Harmonization.
  • Negotiates cost reduction with suppliers to meet projected cost target.
  • Ensures project milestones and timelines are met.
  • Manages contract manufactures to ensure continuous supply of finished goods to our customers.
  • Proactively identifies potential supply issues and provides recommendations to address the issue prior to becoming a supply risk. 
  • Identifies the opportunities to reduce cost, improve customer service and processes.
  • Negotiates contracts with suppliers with favorable terms and meet SOX audit requirement. 
  • Understands contract terms and conditions and works with legal and quality teams to resolve potential conflicts on contracts.
  • Demonstrates leadership and provides guidance to individuals from various departments to achieve positive outcomes of the projects. 
  • Monitors the industry and brings strong business practices to the company to improve overall performance of the company and department.

Required

  • Track record of performance in managing complex, cross-functional activities
  • Ability to resolve issues and recommend potential solutions to the team
  • Able to act decisively and can make decisions in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of cGMPs requirements
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes in various areas including tablets, powders and capsules
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills to develop complex, multi-year strategic business plans for innovation in regional commodities
  • Proven selling, negotiation and influence skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and handling multiple projects concurrently

Preferred

  • Cross-functional teams with Accounts Payable, Planning, Sourcing, R&D, Quality and suppliers
  • Established Project Management skills
  • Strong understanding of contract development with global experience

Experience:
Required

  • 5 years business experience in Procurement, with at least two years in Project Management
  • Demonstrated record of exceeding goals in cost savings and supplier performance
  • Demonstrated record of developing relationships with suppliers that has led to improved quality and overall cost reduction

Preferred

  • 5 + years supply chain operational experience
  • 5 + years of business experience managing commodities
  • Nutritional product experience
  • Cross-functional teaming

Education:

Required

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering/Technical or related field

Preferred

  • Technical Background: PhD Chemist, PhD Pharmacist, Food Scientist, Chemical Engineer
  • Masters Degree in Business
  • Agile Database/document management systems
  • Certified Purchasing Manager or equivalent credentials
  • Six Sigma, Lean, TQM or other strategy experience

Location & Salary: This Company is Located in Torrance, CA. Salary will range from $85k to $100k.
